Vertical Tabs

Features

Everything Vertical Tabs can do - AI agents, git workflow, terminal features, and more.

Start AI coding agents directly from the app with ⌘ Cmd + N. Pick from Claude Code, Copilot, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, Aider, or Gemini CLI. Write a prompt, attach files, choose a model, and launch - all from one modal.

Every agent tab shows a live status icon: spinning while working, shield when waiting for permission, checkmark when done. Orange and blue attention dots in the sidebar indicate which tabs need input.

A bell icon in the top bar collects agent events into a dropdown feed. Each entry shows the tab name, workspace, and timestamp. Click any notification to open that tab.

Reopen the app and restore any previous CLI agent session with one click. Tabs with past agent sessions show a resume screen to continue from where the session left off.

Run multiple agents across different tabs and workspaces. Compare approaches, split a project across agents, or keep a helper agent open alongside a build agent.

Toggle a built-in diff pane with ⇧ Shift + ⌘ Cmd + G. Browse files in commit view or tree view, filter by name, switch worktrees, and pop diffs into separate windows. Auto-refreshes when files change on disk.

Check files to stage, write a commit message, and commit or commit & push in one action. Amend mode lets you modify your last commit. Batch select with ⇧ Shift + click. Your message and selections are saved per worktree.

The right side of the diff is a full editor. Click into any line, make changes, and save with ⌘ Cmd + S. Conflict detection warns you if a file changes externally while you’re editing.

Powered by xterm.js with clickable links (⌘ Cmd + click), find (⌘ Cmd + F), word navigation (⌥ Option + arrow keys), drag-and-drop files, clipboard support, and a right-click context menu. Full Unicode 11 support for emoji and wide characters.

Organize terminals by project. Each workspace maps to a folder, and tabs inside it start in that directory. Rename, reorder, drag tabs between workspaces, and collapse groups. Tab state persists across restarts.

Tmux-style splits: divide any tab into independent terminal panes with horizontal and vertical splits. Drag dividers to resize, navigate with Cmd+Option+Arrow. Layouts persist across restarts.

Browser-style back/forward history (⌘ Cmd + [ / ]), sequential cycling (⇧ Shift + ⌘ Cmd + [ / ]), and finished-tab cycling (⌘ Cmd + Option + [ / ]) to jump straight to completed tasks.

Press ⌘ Cmd + K to switch tabs, open workspaces, launch agents, run package.json scripts, toggle the sidebar, and more. Press ⌘ Cmd + P for dedicated file search with staged/unstaged git sections, recent files, and fuzzy matching. Each action shows its keyboard shortcut.

Eight built-in themes (Catppuccin Mocha, Latte, Dracula, Nord, One Dark, Gruvbox, Dark, Black). Choose your font, cursor style, and UI zoom level. All changes apply instantly.

Configure your shell, scrollback buffer (up to 100,000 lines), alert sounds for finished commands, tab sort order, default agent and model, and more.

Open your project in VS Code, Cursor, Zed, IntelliJ, Xcode, Terminal, iTerm2, or Finder with one click from the terminal top bar.

Every action has a keyboard shortcut. The command palette shows shortcut hints alongside each action. See the complete reference for all available shortcuts.

Vertical Tabs checks for updates in the background and shows a banner when a new version is available. One click to download and install.
