Vertical Tabs

Quick Start

Get up and running with Vertical Tabs in under a minute.

Set up Vertical Tabs in four steps.

  1. Add a workspace

Press ⌘ Cmd + O (or click the + button in the sidebar) to add a project folder.

Workspaces group terminal tabs by project. Each workspace maps to a folder on disk. Add frontend, backend, and any other repos to the sidebar.

  2. Open a terminal

Press ⌘ Cmd + T to open a new terminal tab inside your workspace.

Your shell starts in the workspace directory automatically.

  3. Launch an AI agent

Press ⌘ Cmd + N to open the agent launcher.

Pick an agent (Claude Code, Copilot CLI, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Aider, and others), type a prompt, and press ⌘ Cmd + Enter to launch. The agent runs inside the terminal, and the sidebar shows its progress in real time.

To run multiple agents, open another tab and launch a second one.

  4. Review your changes

Press ⇧ Shift + ⌘ Cmd + G to open the built-in git diff viewer.

    From here you can:

    • Browse changed files in a clean side-by-side diff
    • Stage individual files
    • Edit the diff directly in the built-in editor
    • Write a commit message and commit from the diff viewer
